What is DotAlmanac?
DotAlmanac is a domain extension guide and registrar: compare every extension, then register it with no KYC and pay in crypto. The guide comes first. Most people do not know whether .io, .ai, .co or .dev suits their project, or what each one costs after the first year.
The almanac answers that with one entry per major extension, side-by-side comparisons and original data. When you have chosen, you can register the name here, pay in crypto and skip the ID check.
What does the almanac publish?
Four kinds of pages, all dated:
- Extension entries: one page per major extension under extensions. Each gives the registry, its rules, both prices, and who the extension suits or does not suit.
- Comparisons and picks: pages such as .io vs .com and the best domain extensions, each with a clear verdict per project.
- Data reports: the renewal price index and the extension rules table, under the CC BY 4.0 licence.
- Setup guides: DNS for Vercel, GitHub Pages and Cloudflare, email forwarding and availability checks, listed on guides.
Where do our facts come from?
Each fact comes from a named source, and each page gives the date we checked it. Our main sources are:
- IANA for the list of extensions. DotAlmanac's count of the IANA root zone shows 1,436 TLDs in the file version of 29 October 2026.
- The registries for their rules: who may register, minimum and maximum terms, WHOIS privacy, DNSSEC.
- Public price lists of registrars for competitor prices, each with its date.
According to DotAlmanac's table of 225 extensions, 155 entries are checked against registry sources and 70 rely on secondary sources. The extension rules table states the limits of this data set.
How often are the facts checked?
Our own prices come from the live price grid, so every page shows the same figure at the same time. The grid in force is dated 29 October 2026.
Competitor prices are checked again each month, and each one keeps the date of its price list. Registry rules carry the date of their last check. A known change is written with its date, such as Verisign's .com fee rising to $10.97 on 1 November 2026.
How do I report an error?
Write to [email protected] with the page, the sentence and your source. We check the source, fix the page if it is wrong, and change its date. We do not need your name to act on a correction.
Who operates DotAlmanac?
DomaineGoat LLC, a limited liability company incorporated in Panama, operates DotAlmanac. Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner. ICANN policies and each registry's own rules apply to all of them.
Our policy fits in a few lines. No ID is collected, only one verified email per domain. We release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. Abuse such as phishing, malware, botnets or fraud that takes money from victims leads to action within 24 hours of a well-documented report.
What do we not publish?
No ratings, reviews, awards or customer numbers, and no founding year. We do not rank registrars against ourselves. Other registrars sell some extensions for less. Per their price lists of October 2026, Porkbun and Cloudflare Registrar sell a .com below our $11.99/year.
We do not give legal advice either. A page that explains a registry rule describes the rule; it does not tell you what your own situation allows.
About DotAlmanac: questions
Is DotAlmanac an ICANN-accredited registrar?
No. DotAlmanac is operated by DomaineGoat LLC, and domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner. Each of them appears in RDAP, like any other domain.
Is the almanac neutral if you also sell domains?
We say when another extension or registrar is better on a point, with the date of the check. Our prices come from the same grid as the pricing page. You can check every competitor price against the source we cite.
Why no ID check?
ICANN asks registrars to verify one contact for each domain; an identity document is not part of that rule. We verify a single email address per domain and do not publish it. Payment is in crypto, so there is no card to check either.
Can I quote your data?
Yes. The two data reports are published under CC BY 4.0: quote them with a link to the page. Other pages can be quoted with a link and the date shown on the page.
