*55 extensions · prices per year in USD*

Prices in US dollars for one year, dated 29 October 2026, paid from a crypto balance (BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, XMR). Rows marked *With Domain protection only* include the $29 a year for it. Transfer prices are explained on the [pricing page](https://dotalmanac.com/pricing/ "How much does a domain name cost per year?").

**[With Domain protection only](https://dotalmanac.com/what-is-domain-protection/ "What is domain protection, and do I need it?")**: sold only with Domain protection, so the registry and WHOIS show DomaineGoat LLC, never you. The price shown includes the $29/year for it.

## How do I read this table?

Each row is one extension; each price covers one year. Read the columns in this order:

1. **Renewal** first. It is what you pay every year after the first one, so it sets the long-term cost.
2. **1st year** next. A low first year next to a high renewal is a promotion, not the real price.
3. **Restrictions**. The registry's own rules: who may register, a minimum term, HTTPS only.
4. **WHOIS privacy**. *Free* means your email stays out of the public record. *Our company details, not yours* means the registry receives the details of DomaineGoat LLC.
5. **Transfer**. The price to bring an existing domain here; it equals the renewal.

The chips filter rows without JavaScript. *No restrictions* keeps the extensions open to anyone, and *Privacy available* keeps those with free WHOIS privacy.

## How many domain extensions exist, and why do we list only some?

DotAlmanac's count of the IANA root zone shows 1,436 TLDs on 29 October 2026. Of these, 248 are two-letter country codes and 151 are internationalised (IDN) extensions.

Our research table covers 225 extensions: 10 historic gTLDs, 121 new gTLDs and 94 country codes. Our price grid sells 43 of them in your own name, plus 12 with Domain protection only. The rules of all 225 are in the [extension rules table](https://dotalmanac.com/data/domain-extension-rules-2026/ "What are the registration rules of each domain extension?").

## Which extensions have special rules?

Several extensions in our grid carry a rule that changes the price or the setup. Read the line before you order.

### Registry rules that matter at checkout

*Rules from the registries and DotAlmanac's table of 225 extensions, checked on 29 October 2026.*

| Extension | Registry rule | What it means for you |
| --- | --- | --- |
| .ai | 2-year minimum term (Government of Anguilla) | Each order and each renewal covers 2 years at $84.49/year |
| .app, .dev, .page | Whole extension on the browser HSTS preload list (Google Registry) | Your site must serve HTTPS, or browsers refuse to load it |
| .io | Registry: Internet Computer Bureau, an Identity Digital subsidiary | Works normally; long-term questions remain over Chagos sovereignty |
| .co | Registrations of 5 years at most | Renew at least every 5 years |
| .gg | 1 year at a time; applications reviewed by the registry | Renew every year; approval can take longer |
| .de, .nl, .ch, .be | 1 year at a time; registry asks for a name and address | Sold with Domain protection only; renewed every year |

## Which extensions are open to anyone?

Every extension in our grid is open to anyone, wherever you live. According to DotAlmanac's table of 225 extensions, 176 have no registrant restriction. Fourteen require a local presence, 6 require residence and 4 require an ID document. Two need a nexus with the United States (.us and .nyc), and 5 check eligibility, such as .bank or .law.

We do not sell extensions that need a declared identity or place. A .eu requires EU or EEA citizenship, residence or establishment. A .ca requires a Canadian presence, and a .us requires a US nexus. .sh, .so and .ly are not sold by DotAlmanac either. [Country domains without living there](https://dotalmanac.com/can-you-register-a-country-domain-without-living-there/ "Can you register a country domain without living there?") lists the open country codes.

## Which extensions keep the same price at renewal?

Eight do: .com, .net, .ai, .co, .xyz, .info, .me and .gg, as of 29 October 2026. The other 35 extensions sold in your own name renew for more than their first year.

The largest gaps are on .app, .io and .dev. A .io costs $33.99/year the first year, then $52.49/year. Sort the table by renewal, or read the [cheapest extensions to renew](https://dotalmanac.com/cheapest-domain-extensions-to-renew/ "Which domain extensions are the cheapest to renew?").

## Extensions: questions

### Which extension should I pick?

For a broad audience, .com, at $11.99/year with the same renewal. For a tech product, compare .io, .ai, .dev and .app on renewal and rules. [How to choose a domain extension](https://dotalmanac.com/how-to-choose-a-domain-extension/ "How do I choose the right domain extension?") gives a decision table by project.

### Why is .eu or .us missing from the list?

They are not sold by DotAlmanac. The .eu registry requires EU or EEA citizenship, residence or establishment, and .us requires a US nexus. The .us registry also forbids WHOIS privacy.

### Is .io safe to register in 2026?

Yes for now: .io runs normally as of 29 October 2026. The open question is the sovereignty of the Chagos Islands; the UK–Mauritius treaty was put on hold in 2026. The [.io entry](https://dotalmanac.com/tld/io/ "Is a .io domain a safe and sensible choice for my tech project?") gives the details and the renewal price of $52.49/year.

### Are all these extensions paid in crypto?

Yes. Every extension is paid from one balance, topped up with BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC, XMR from $1. Registrations, renewals and transfers use the same balance.

### What does the badge With Domain protection only mean?

The registry of that extension asks for a name and a postal address. We register it in the name of DomaineGoat LLC, and you stay the beneficiary. The price shown includes $29 a year for the option.
